Mike and Me
In my previous post I mentioned that I was in Peoria for my daughter's basketball tournament. And I connected with some folks who had a ride planned for today.As it turned out, only one guy showed. Mike Honnold is the president of the local club (Proctor Cycling). He and his club host the cycling classic held ever summer.
We met on the West side of town on a parking lots and headed west into the sweet, rural IL blacktop.
I have ridden this area several times and really like terrain. Mike works at Caterpillar and has been a cycling enthusiast for 16 years. We had a nice ride and a nice chat for slightly over 2 hours.
Afterward, I followed him to the local Cervelo, Guru, Gary Fisher, Felt, North Face dealer. We chatted and hopefully recruited a few more folks to join us tomorrow.

Did you update this guy on all of the stories that he has missed out on by NOT living in WDM. Like that one time when Pete got in an arguement with that guy in the white pickup in Booneville (that took out his false teeth and threw them in the bed of his pickup before arguing with Pete).
Keep an eye out on the roads over that direction Lou. Big Dogs Cycling holds a 200 mile and a UMCA 12/24 hour event to the north of there every year.
